A Good Start

The IGP’s announcement that the Altantuya murder investigation has been re-oened is a positive step; to be followed by a full re-enquiry. In the meantime steps should be taken to commute the death sentences so that the Australians can deport the second murderer back to Malaysia.

In the meanwhile it is to be hoped, and expected, that the IGP is enquiring into the matter of the “special unit” inside Special Branch which allegedly existed and to which both murderers were posted. If it still exists it should be abolished and all those responsible, including any politicians who authorised its creation, should have their criminal liability fully examined the Attorney General; as Public Prosecutor and principal law officer.
