Drumming Up Business?

Kelantan based surgeon Nik Mazlan has been quoted in the domestic Malaysian press as saying that amputation of a hand for theft (as prescribed in Islamic law) is “barbaric” but  “it is the way to stop theft”.

Assuming that such an offensive and indeed barbaric practice became legal, as PAS appear to want, who better qualified to perform such amputations than a surgeon?

Nik Mazlan would do well to make it publicly clear if he would have any personal interest, remunerated or not, in giving effect to any such order of a Shariah court should PAS policy attract a majority of voters. (Happily very unlikely)
