Low Cost Houses

With a State election not far away it is no surprise to find Sarawak CM Johari, and no doubt State Governor Taib, talking about projects to benefit electors.

One of these, it appears, is a project to build “low cost” houses at around RM 150,000 each. Who, it must be asked, will benefit from this, apart, of course, from those to whom the building contracts will be given?

The most deprived Sarawak citizens are those who live in longhouses or personal attap shacks in areas of the State which have seen their forests, and therefore their livlehoods, stolen for the benefit of friends of Taib and his cronies. They have neither 150,000 ringgit nor any way to borrow them and so will not benefit from this “scheme”

In fact the only likely winners from this disbursement of State funds will be the contractors who will not get their contracts for nothing.

The only way in which Sarawakians can get any benefit from this coming election will be to throw out all these BN crooks (now hiding under a new name) and get an honest State administration that will see to their needs; using money recovered from those who have been robbing the State for over forty years.
