MACC chief Lateefa is reported as saying that her agency receives all sorts of complaints that have no relation to corruption. Well so? It can only take a moment to re-direct such mistaken persons to the right address and it might be thought flattering that the public have such trust in the MACC that they take their complaints there; relevant to corruption or not.
An interesting sidelight on the anti corruption scene but hardly relevant to its work. The public would very much prefer to hear reports on what the Agency is actually achieving, rather than what does not concern it. What, for instance, is the MACC doing about the mega corruption in Sarawak which has been going on for over forty years? Admittedly she has only recently become the boss but there has been enough time to discover the state of play in that State and take the necessary action to get enquiries going. Also to determine why the State branch of her Agency appears to have done nothing to deal with the rampant and public corruption so evident in Sarawak for so many years.
Of course all that was, up to the last general election, master minded by mega crook Najib in cahoots with his fellow criminals in Sarawak, and many Malaysians will still be puzzled by the sight of GPS Sarawak Assembly members sitting on the Government benches, and not in prison where they ought to be.
An election at State level has to be held in Sarawak before too long and it is vital that all aspects of criminal conduct by the ruling GPS party have been investigated, prosecuted and cleared away before any genuine election can be held. So, Lateefa, there s a big job waiting for you and your Agency and it is time to get on with it and show the public some results from your work.
