Meanwhile, Ramesh [‘NGO’ Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin (PMSP) chairperson] dismissed suggestions that Lester’s bankruptcy had any bearing on his credibility.

He said Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown had paid for Lester and his family’s trip to London.

“If she knew he was bankrupt, why would she hire him? Now who is morally bankrupt?

“Why would someone pay for the whole family (for their trip) to London using her personal credit card? The fare is not cheap. Moreover, it was on Malaysian Airlines,” he said.

Lester was declared bankrupt on June 2012 and would thus be unable to go abroad, except under special circumstances.

Is this Ramesh mentally challenged or does he think we all are?

He says Lester’s bankruptcy has no bearing on his credibility as a witness in these smear allegations, but that at the same time anyone who hires such a bankrupt is themself “morally bankrupt”.

For good measure, Lester was made bankrupt in 2012 AFTER he came to London and BEFORE Ramesh hired him for cash to be his star witness.

Yes, RFS paid for Lester’s ticket to London, because he had approached us and offered to work as a volunteer (no salary), so we put him up and gave him dinner/travel money in return – for a few weeks.

We also enabled him to bring his family for a while – they camped in our office.

In return we hoped Lester would work hard for the project.  He did not. We did not hire Lester after this experience.  RFS went from strength to strength but without Lester.

Good decision not to hold your press conference after all for a while Ramesh… think very hard about your next move – VERY hard, given how mentally challenged you appear to be.
